Hi Parents,
1. I have posted pictures from last week at the bottom of this post. We will try to take a few more photos this week. 2. We have a few special events planned for the sunny weather this week. On Wednesday we will be planting sunflowers seeds in pots. On Thursday we will be splatter painting outside. We expect that this activity will be quite messy and suggest that you send your child to school in paint appropriate clothing (i.e an old t-shirt). I will be sending out a reminder in communication books. Please see the following notes from our specialists. OT Tip of the Month Over the next month, students will continue to learn how to think “socially”. Social thinking involves awareness of our thoughts and feelings! Hi Parents,
I apologize that I have not posted in a while. Unfortunately I have been away sick for a few days. A cold seems to be going around our classroom. We will continue to talk a lot about hand washing as well as proper coughing and sneezing etiquette at school this week. Many students and sta I hope everyone had a great weekend! Please remember that we do not have school tomorrow (Monday, April 17th). Hi Parents,
Our blog hasn't been working for the past couple of days. Below I have posted pictures from last week. Hi Parents,
Today we danced, sang songs and played instruments with Ms. Christina. We are thrilled that we get to learn with her until the end of June. Music Therapy is AWESOME! Hi Parents, Please see the attached monthly tips from our SLP and OT. Thanks, Ms. Kirsty OT Tip of the Month: Top three tips to develop scissor skills: 1. Teach the pre-requisite open/close motion by incorporating activities with tongs, turkey basters, spray bottles and “hungry heads” (a tennis ball with a slit than can be squeezed open to be “fed”). 2. Allow children to explore with scissors by setting up a cutting/snipping bin with a variety of textures and materials, including: straws, cards, thick paper, tissue paper, Styrofoam egg cartons. 3. Stiff paper is easier to snip than thin computer paper; straight lines should be mastered before expecting curved lines and more complex shapes with corners. Hi Parents,
Welcome back! We hope that everyone had a restful and relaxing break. This week we will be starting music therapy with Ms. Christina. Ms.Christina will be with us every Wednesday from April 5th until the end of June. She will be providing music therapy for an hour in the morning from 8:45-9:45am and from 2-3pm in the afternoon. We are looking forward to her visit!!! Thanks for reading, Ms.Kirsty |
